Homeopathy can be a very effective method to address osteoporosis. Homeopathy has been around and used effectively for centuries. With many formulas to choose from, it can be used to treat Osteopenia and Osteoporosis without the use of harsh drugs that have so many side effects. Homeopathy works on a “like treats like” basis using minute amounts that have been diluted so much, that in most formulas, there is not enough of the original substance to affect one with the symptoms the substance might cause if ingested whole, yet can still cause-effect, often in opposing symptoms. As an example, venom from a snake or insect might cause specific symptoms but a homeopathic formula might bring the opposite. If a substance, for example, causes itching, in homeopathy, it might stop the itching or something in between. But this is all dependent on the strength and use. Homeopathy is also used according to personality or character traits that coincide with symptoms of various conditions. Additionally, what might make a well person ill, will make an ill person well through homeopathy.
According to several sources, the following can be used to help offset the symptoms of osteopenia/osteoporosis.
Silicea (Silica) –
is used to compensate for the loss of minerals and bone tissue, this homeopathic formula is best taken upon awakening. People who need Silica/Silicea are often nervous, easily tired, are often chilly, and tend to sweat at night. They tend to have a refined or delicate appearance, as well as weakness in the spine. Injuries are usually slow to heal, and they tend to have a low resistance to infection. It is especially indicated by those whose moderate exercise often warms them up and improves energy. (1)
Symphytum officinale –
is ideal at bedtime and especially good for those who fracture bones often from mild trauma. It is helpful in strengthening and healing bones when new fractures occur, but also when pain continues in old breaks and fractures. (1)
Natrum Mur –
helps to provide additional calcium and vitamin D, thus avoiding the risk of deficiency, 5 pellets of Silicea should be taken on awakening, followed by Natrum Mur 4 CH in the morning, Symphytum 5 CH at bedtime, and a weekly dose of Calacareas Phos 9 CH for 2 months. (1)(5)
Folliculinum –
can be used to help stimulate the production of estrogen and add to hormone support. (1)(2)
Calcarea carbonica –
is helpful for those who are easily tired by exertion and feel anxious or overwhelmed from labor or stress. They may experience often from cold, may be overweight, and feel worse when exposed to cold or damp conditions. They may also notice symptoms of back pain, swollen joints, and/or perspire more in the late evening. They also may crave eggs (sulfur) and sweets or sugar. (3)(4)(5)
Calcarea phosphorica –
is used for those with stiffness, soreness, and weakness of the bones and joints. Aching in the bones of the neck, upper back, and hips may be experienced. Exhaustion and lethargy may be noticed, especially after exercise. Calcium deposits and bone-spurs may develop in those who benefit from Calcarea and even though bone loss is taking place. Fractures for these folks tend to heal quite slowly. And the individual may feel a sense of dissatisfaction or a strong desire for travel or a change of circumstances. (3)(4)(5)
Phosphorus –
is a remedy that is often helpful for those who are sensitive, suggestible, imaginative, but easily tired or weakened physically. Broken bones or fractures may be slow to heal. Weakness is often felt in the spine, with burning pain between the shoulder blades can be a frequent experience. Many needing this formula are often tall, thin, and found with an easily-flushing face. Other indications for Phosphorus are a desire for refreshing foods like ice cream and a strong thirst for a cold or carbonated drink may be presented. (3)(4)(5)
Calcarea phosphorica, Phosphorus, and Sulphur –
are the best formulas for the treatment of curvature of the spine in patients of osteoporosis. (6)
Calcarea fluorica –
is excellent for those patients who complain of pain in the back made worse by rest and better by continuous motion. (6)
Syphilinum and Fluoric acid –
are effective in the treatment of osteoporosis where the pain is present in the bones worse at night. (6)

Some of the formula definitions sound like my symptoms, how can I get started with them?

I suggest going to a health food store that carries homeopathic remedies. See if they carry the ones you need. Two companies stand out in these: Boiron (blue tube most products or lavender color) or Hyland’s. If you cannot find them in a store, they can be found online or through Amazon

I know that several are having difficulty finding products and I am working on that. But so far, the only ones I’ve been able to find are listed. Asking of those in the group(s) can help as some have found a few. Until I have time and am able to find some, I have nothing of offer at this time, sorry.

I would suggest checking Amazon.uk continually until you find acceptable substitutes
