GETTING DOWN TO THE BONE  WITH BONE BROTH

But not everybody can, or has the time, or wants to go to the effort to make it often. Or maybe you find you don’t have any on hand. So, if you need to buy bone broth, look for something as close to homemade as possible.

It should be made with wholesome, organic, real food ingredients like those you’d find in your own kitchen. It should also be made without additives, coloring, or flavor enhancers, like MSG (a neurotoxin). You want to find Bone Broth that is made with organic, grass-fed/pasture-raised, or free-range or wild-caught bones, as well as organic vegetables (mirepoix – carrots, celery, onions).

The bones should be simmered for a lengthy time, enough to extract all the nutrients and a good, rich flavor with all the minerals possible, as well as all the gelatin/collagen available.

This is where many may fall short. Some do not add vegetables, and most,t if not all, remove all fat, which is one of the healthier nutrients. Some brands, however, will be found to have been made with vegetables and contain good amounts of protein/collagen, and some flavor, tasting “close” to homemade.

Attempting to ease the burden of searching for such a good bone broth, I’ve listed quite a few to choose from. Since everyone has their own “taste” in bone broth, these are not listed according to any rating of popularity.
