What Do Your Bones Really Need?

I see this often, usually in other osteoporosis (OP) groups, but there are NO osteoporosis “specialists”. Some are told to see a Rheumatologist, who mostly specializes in “internal medicine.” Some are seeing endocrinologists, who specialize in hormones and the endocrine system. A few have had it suggested to see an osteopath, and some just see their regular primary doctors. Still, none of these are specialists in OP or even bone health, and all of them are allopathic doctors. What is important about these is that none of them received any formal nutritional or preventive training in medical school. Some are just recently beginning to include nutrition in their training, thanks to the efforts of RFK Jr., and the few who got any such education in the past 100 years, since Rockefeller formed the A.M.A., got at most only 20 hours of class time, with most getting none. 1 2

I personally find this sad, and it reflects in the treatment I find most get from their physicians. Holistic and Functional doctors get a little more on the side of prevention, nutrition, and health, but most of these are also trained primarily along the lines of conventional allopathic training, which excludes nutrition and prevention.

A Naturopath, on the other hand, goes through 4 years of nutritional training. However, I have found that even some of these lack in “sound” nutrition and promote the use of synthetic vitamins, and are not aware of antinutrients. You can read more on why I recommend a good N.D. in Why Should You Choose a Naturopath (N.D.) Over a Medical Doctor (M.D.)?

Most dieticians and nutritionists are also lacking, as they have been educated by the same flawed Western medical standards and still believe the old food pyramid is good. This, of course, was just recently and finally flipped, giving way to the inclusion of full-fat dairy*, meats, and vegetables over the old grains, low or non-fat milk, and void of healthy fats and sound nutrition.

*The problem with most dairy is that it isn’t “raw,” and once it’s pasteurized, it loses almost all nutrient value, and because the enzymes capable of making the proteins and nutrients bioavailable have been destroyed, it does more to create chronic inflammation and damage to the gut and digestive system than any good it could have.

Dr. Doug Lucas, though he is known to promote drugs, at least has this part down: There are no specialists in bone health or osteoporosis. Some may have some knowledge that can help. Still, sadly, most lack the key information that could make the difference in the health of those whose bones are deteriorating due to the lack of what bones really need.

Hear what Dr. Lucas has to say, which I believe reinforces what I have taught thousands. When it comes to bone health (osteopenia, osteoporosis), I stand by firmly on what I have stated continually . . .

Healing OP, having healthy bones, requires the following:

  • The right diet (defined as “how we live),
  • “Sound” nutrition,
  • The right supplements (void of synthetics and antinutrients),
  • The right exercises (which include targeted weight loading to the bones, resistance training of the muscles that support the skeleton, and balance training),
  • The avoidance of as many antinutrients as possible, and
  • Balanced hormones, as achieved by seed cycling and natural means.

As Dr. Lucas states, OP is not a drug deficiency! Not one bone in your body requires what is found in any of the OP drugs. What they need is what is listed above. Give your bones these, and you will see improvement in your bone health!
