Probiotics For the Bones

It is vital to your bone health and the healing of OP to know what strains of Probiotics have been shown to benefit your bones. It has been discovered that 7 strains, known so far, are especially needed to give your bones what they need.

For example:

  • Both Lactobacillus casei and acidophilus have been shown to boost antioxidant levels in the body, which help to reduce inflammation, which is key for healing any condition.
  • One study showed Lactobacillus casei to result in bone weight, bone mineral density, and bone-breaking force compared to other test subjects.
  • Lactobacillus helveticus was shown to boost osteoblast activity (that’s new bone cells) by 30-40% and had no effect on osteoclast activity, suggesting that L. helveticus has the potential to encourage bone formation.
  • A study showed Lactobacillus rhamnosus stimulated the growth of gut bacteria that produce a particular metabolite called butyrate. Butyrate, in turn, prompted T cells in the bone marrow to produce a protein called Wnt10b, which is vital for bone growth.
  • A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study showed that supplementation of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus reuteri ATCC PTA 6475 decreased bone loss.
  • Lactobacillus salivarius can directly improve bone integrity and, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, aids with inflammation as well as protects collagen from damage.
  • Beneficial probiotic strains like (Lactobacillus reuteri and Bifidobacterium longum) actually mitigated menopause-induced bone loss.

Using a probiotic that includes all of these will do more for your bones than others that lack any of these seven strains. In addition, as all probiotic products shown also cover gut health, which makes up more than 70% of your immune system and is where all nutrient absorption begins or ends, these will also benefit your health in general, as well as give your body what it needs to best address your goals for optimal bone health.

Most of these are 100% clean. Those with any questionable ingredients are noted. I recommend rotating at the end of each bottle between 2 or 3 if available. Some locations are known to only have one available, but will still give better results in achieving your goals for improved bone health and healing OP than others that lack even one of these vital strains.

    1. Hi Jenny, sorry for the delay, I just saw this. No it would not. While you would get (supposedly) more probiotic cultures in that than a whole bottle of Probiotics, you would not get all seven strains shown to be of most benefit for the bones such as those I list in Probiotics for the Bones. If you have not seen that, you might check it out from the New FILES List linked in the GUIDES
