It should be made with wholesome, organic, real food ingredients like those you should find in your own kitchen. It should also be made without additives, coloring, or flavor enhancers, like MSG (a neurotoxin). The bones should be simmered for a lengthy time, enough to extract all the nutrients and a good, rich flavor with all the minerals possible, as well as all the gelatin/collagen available, or find one where the bones were cooked under pressure.
This is where many may fall short. Some do not add vegetables, and most, if not all, remove all fat, which is one of the healthier nutrients. Some brands, however, will be found to have been made with vegetables and contain good amounts of protein/collagen, and some flavor, tasting “close” to homemade.
